Summary of AGM

Frank F who chaired the meeting gave an overview of the year gone by.

In particular he introduced John H, who volunteered to stand as the Club’s Child Protection Officer.

John, who has excellent credentials for the role, then outlined the importance of having such a position in any organisation dealing with youngsters.

Phil R outlined the results of the Business Plan Subcommittee to date. This included a proposal for changes to the Club Rules (in effect our Constitution) to make the Committee positions more flexible. These were duly voted in.

Joe R gave the Treasurer’s Report, which showed the club to be in a healthy situation. The accounts were adopted by the meeting. Peter B, who provides the independent review of our accounts explained recent changes to taxation relating to clubs with small taxable incomes. Peter also agreed to act in a similar capacity for the forthcoming year.

The major outlay was the courts being refurbished and is being amortised over 5 years, which is considered to be a reasonable time before the courts will require further refurbishment.

The adult membership fees were slightly increased for the forthcoming year, with the Juniors remaining the same.

Mark T gave the Club Captain’s Report, explaining that this has been a year of consolidation after last year when many teams gained promotion. Nonetheless most teams have more than held their own.

Over 100 matches were played with more than 65 players representing the Club.

Annabel W reported on the Juniors, thanking the Junior Committee for all their efforts.

Doris N continues coaching the minis, with one ‘orange’ division team aptly named ‘Satsumas’ entered in the league.

Jon H coaches 3 squads on Friday nights with another 3 on Saturday mornings. Holiday camps have been a great tennis success in the summer as well as bringing in extra funds for the Club.

In absence of a committee member for this role, Sue T reported on the year’s social events. Sue thanked all those who helped out behind the scenes to enable members to enjoy the year’s social events. She and Sallie are happy to continue to organise future events but asked that someone come forward to join the team and attend main committee meetings as Social Secretary to report on events on their behalf.

The Officers and Committee Members of the club were duly elected, including a new Chairman and new Vice-chairman.
