For the first time the Club Championships had Ball Boys and Ball Girls, generically referred to as Ball Kids; expertly trained (and kitted out in matching caps and sweat bands) by Annabel W.
The enthusiasm of the 14 youngsters (who worked in rotating teams of 6 per court) can be measured by the fact that it was originally planned only to have them for the two Open Singles finals but such was their enjoyment and ability that they were keen to operate for the three Open Double finals too.
They did a splendid job and received individual presentations from the Tournament Committee for their efforts.
Those involved were George and James B, Daniel B, Camilla and Sofia C, Lucy and Tom E, Henry K, Tom M, Alex and William M and Ben, Charlotte and James W.
