 Goring Tennis Club Finals’ Day 2004
The Annual Goring Tennis Club Championship competition ran
over the 2004 summer season, with the finals being played on
Sunday, 12th September 2004.
Finals’ Day turned out to be a very windy occasion with the blustery conditions making play very challenging.
The finals began with the Ladies’ and Men's Singles and this year we have a new Ladies Singles Champion. Sarah B took the Ladies’ Singles title in straight sets 6-2, 6-4 in the final against Nikki R.
Sarah has taken the title of Ladies Singles Champion following a reign of 6 Years by the former Singles Champion, Jax M.
In the Men's Singles final Guy W-L retained his Men's Singles title beating David W 6-1, 6-3. Guy's Championship was extremely successful as he went on to win the Men's Doubles final with partner Angus J and the Mixed Doubles with partner Nikki R to take home three Championship trophies.
New competitions for this years Championship were the Men's restricted Singles and a progressive Mixed Doubles Competition.
Sean P took the Men's Restricted Singles title 6-2, 6-2 in the final against Frank C.
The Winners of the Progressive Mixed Doubles were Peter H and Jan B and John S and Alice W-L with Runners- up Ernst and Anne K and Terry W and Ann D.
And the final game was the Ladies Doubles, which was a very closely fought battle with Sarah B and Jax M narrowly beating Nikki R and Anna H 7-5, 6-4
The Chairman, Peter H, presented the trophies after an excellent day of tennis, which was a culmination of many previous knock out rounds during the preceding months.
