The New Clubhouse

2004 Situation

High importance and satisfaction was shown on your feedback. Most people have appreciated what a wonderful facility this is. We also received many comments about having our own toilet facilities, but at the current time the SODC have ruled this out.

In the meanwhile it is also clear that we must give priority to maintaining this major asset along with the courts.

Response from Hugh H (2004)

Patio: Within the next few weeks I hope to contact the contractor who laid the patio and ask him to make the gradient from the grass less steep. I will also ask him about providing a path leading directly from the car park to the patio. (see extra security light).

Clubhouse, Outside Paintwork: Our Chairman has been in touch with the clubhouse manufacturers expressing concern about flaking paint and blistering on the outside walls. They have promised to have a look and get back to us.

Notice board: In response to a number of requests, I have, with the able assistance of David W, relocated the notice board to the wall of the clubhouse. It seems a much more sensible place for it. Removing the posts is a task which should be done fairly soon. When we have worked out the best method.

Clubhouse Interior: We are grateful to Carol M for providing us with a number of items of furniture, most recently, the new set of chairs. She and her husband Ian, have also done practical work within the clubhouse, which I am sure you will agree, has been most appreciated.

Current Situation

The club house continues to be regarded as a major asset.

The outside of the clubhouse has been repainted.

An extra or larger external notice board is being considered.

The fridge has been defrosted and now contains two first-aid gel freezer packs to be available in case of injuries to players

Toilets are still a high priority. Latest indications from the Parish Council are that new separate toilet facilities will be provided for the tennis club in the “Far Pavillion”.
