Goring Tennis Club Awards Dinner Dance

Goring Tennis Club annual dinner and dance was held this year at Caversham Heath Golf Club.

The evening was our first annual awards night and was set up with a Wimbledon theme.

Eighty of our members and friends, dressed to the nines, enjoyed a lovely evening wining, dining and dancing. A quiz was set for completion over the meal. Rather appropriately, for an Oxfordshire club, the Tim Henman table won!

After the meal, the awards were presented by our Chairman, Peter H and our Club Captain, Mark T.

Team Player of the Year, Sonya R and the Most Improved Match Players of the Year, Alex W and Nikki R were all surprised and delighted to receive their awards. This was Goring Tennis Club’s own Oscar night and one that we hope to repeat annually.

Then there was the raffle, where prizes were kindly donated by numerous local business including:
The White Lion at Crays Pond, the Perch and Pike at South Stoke, Bow Thai Restaurant (Goring), the Catherine Wheel (Goring), Harlequin Boutique (Pangbourne), Mandy Nall (Tennis Coaching), Chaucers Bespoke Picture Framing, Goring and Streatley Wine Society, Swift Ink, Sarah Odendaal Beautician, Oliver’s Hairdressing and Racquet Sports of Henley.

Many thanks to all those who donated so generously. After the raffle we had a live band, where the older members tried to teach the youngsters how to twist, shake, rattle and roll to the sound of the Mersey Echoes.
