 Over 80 members and their guests dressed up in their glamorous attire which was fit for the 007 theme, with some going that extra mile to create particularly familiar characters from the films.
A sit-down meal was provided this year with guests pre-ordering their choices from a delectable menu created especially for us. Succulent pork fillet, Thai style salmon or tarte tatin followed by chocolate mousse, pear and almond gallette or a selection of cheeses were the mouth watering delights on offer.
Mark T, true to form, created a Bond themed quiz which soon got heated as each table tried to find the next set of clues and would only do a swap if someone else had the card they wanted. As there were only 4 sets of cards and 9 tables things weren’t going to get very far, so the rules were diplomatically explained and everyone completed their questions in good time!
The Match Player of the Year Awards 2006 were presented by Frank C to Mark R, Paul J, Sarah D and Caroline H.
A special prize was also awarded on the night for the best themed outfit which went to Anna H as Pussy Galore.
Before guests started tapping their toes, our raffle was drawn and some lucky people won some fabulous prizes. Thanks to Shannon S for chasing around and persuading local businesses to donate prizes.
With the formalities of the evening over, guests let rip on the dance floor to the excellent sounds of the disco who played great dance music that kept most people dancing for a couple of hours.
The success of the evening could not have been possible without the help and support of many people. On behalf of the tennis club I would like to thank the following:
