Eight Team Tournament, 18th September 2005
The Annual 8 Team Tournament, organised both as a culmination of summer activity and as a prelude to the winter competitions, involved 32 players from the 8 men’s and ladies’ winter squads. Pairs were drawn such that an A team player played with a D team player and a B teamer with a C teamer.
This made for an intriguing matching of players. Would the better A team player dominate, or would the more balanced team play better as a pair? Let the results speak for themselves!
Four groups of four pairs fought out some close battles and the two group winners contested the finals.
In the Ladies’ event the pairing of Alice W-L and Linda B and the pairing of Jan B and Ann D both arrived in the final undefeated. It was victory to Alice and Linda on this occasion.
For the men it was a similar story. Kevin B and Club Chairman Peter H just lost out in a tense tie break to Jon H and Alex W.
