Delayed by rain, today’s play gets under way, with Roger Federer facing surprise semi finalist 34-year-old Jonas Bjorkman in the first match.

This semi-final saw the World number one produce a near perfect display of tennis to reach his fourth successive Wimbledon final.

The 13th Wimbledon for  Jonas was an ordeal like no other, as Roger played a match of stunning intensity and unbreakable skill.

The Swiss went on to become only the seventh man to win Wimbledon four times in a row, and the third man in the open era after Bjorn Borg and Pete Sampras.!

Rafael Nadal  was then to overcome an in-form Marcos Baghdatis

This was a match which was widely anticipated to go the distance, and many observers favoured Marcos  as the likely finalist. The Cypriot was at times dazzling, always resourceful, and never gave up. But Rafael’s lustre would not be dimmed for so much as a set.

When it was Nadal's time to serve for the match he did not falter, going to match point after a 19-shot rally and then sealing victory with a smash.
