The Purple Patch, the winners for the last two years, hit a sticky patch this year, but still came a very creditable joint third. It all looked very close until the Music Round.
At this point, The Dim Wits came badly unstuck only managing a mere 5 points, but only one point worse than The Unbelievables, who had received 5 discretionary points for dancing. These two then fought it out for the Wooden Spoon.
Foot in Mouth went neck and neck with Thick Cut, both pulling ahead of the rest of the field. In a brain bursting final effort Foot in Mouth came from behind, taking the vital extra points in the last round.

The Questions & Answers
|
 |
 |
|
Each round came with a theme, which helped; but only if you got enough answers to spot the theme in the first place. Dastardly cunning!
Having narrowly missed out on the Wooden Spoon, The Dim Wits took the accolade for the most amusing answer. “The film in which a board game brought the jungle to life?” was of course “Jumanji” not “Jumbalaya”!
In the Marathon, Jax M was convinced that JT was John Thomas not Jack Twist - (the 'Jake Gyllenhaal played Jack Twist in the Brokeback Mountain' question).
Although being a member of the aptly named Dim Wits, Ros G not only knew how many daughters King Lear had, but also their names: Cordelia, Goneril and Regan. Sorry Ros, no extra points for that!

The ex-rugby player, who once played at loose head, concedes that this jersey is indeed numbered one and that he was probably playing in the wrong position at the time.
No lesser authority than the BBC, declares that the loose head is “usually the stockiest member of the team, whose head typically joins his shoulders without recourse to a neck. He thrives on physically intimidating his opposite number” Nuff said!
The sneakily worded question, ”Which number must you stay below to survive at pontoon?”, fooled no one apart from the eventual winners. The rest of us all got the answer “22”!
Had a Tie Break been required, the clever final question would have been “What is the World Record for skimming stones?”. It was 40, but this was beaten on 1st October 2007 and now stands at 51. Nearest but less than would have won!
I wonder how many of us would have got that!
Where does he get them from?

Again they were a good number of non-tennis players in attendance, some from such far off places as South Korea and Whitchurch Hill.
Thank you all for your support and thanks again to the Quiz Master, Mark T, for a thoroughly entertaining evening
