Social Activities
Social events such as quizzes, barbecues, dinner dance, etc.
2004 Situation
The graph of this feedback is different to others, Importance and satisfaction show lower scores, and I might deduce a level of ambivalence here. As one person said ”Its not what you join a tennis club for”. Well that might be true for some, and yet I know that is nice to meet people socially away from the court.
So we will maintain the present level of activity, and as always if a person has an event that they would like share with others, you could always post on the clubhouse or indeed get in touch with our Social Secretary or even put it in the news letter. I was pleased to see for instance the publishing of the various tennis charity events in the previous newsletter.
Response from Val K (2004)
The social side of a tennis club is a useful fund-raiser and we therefore intend to carry on with club functions and indeed hope to maintain the number of members who already attend and maybe, with a few changes in format, actually increase attendance a little.
For the Summer Barbecue, we have already planned on changing the venue every year. This year's barbecue had a good attendance. The numbers averaging the same as previous years.
The Quiz Night is generally thought of as a successful evening's entertainment. We feel there have not been any complaints about it, so we intend to keep the format as it stands.
The Dinner Dance. We have had numbers fall over the past few years. To counteract that, we are this year, trying to incorporate a few changes. The venue and music and menu are all going to be different.
We also hope to incorporate a Club Awards Night with possible trophies to be awarded by the club captain and presented by the chairman.
Current Situation
The Summer Barbecue on the evening of the Club Championship Finals seems ideal for the presentations and has now become the established format.
The Quiz night also seems to have become an established favourite.
The “themed” Dinner Dances with Club Awards has proved very successful.
Why break a winning formula?
On the other hand, if you have any brilliant ideas for other functions.......
