Survey 2004

Club Survey, March 2004

Dear Sir or Madam,

As part of our survey you have been awarded a Free Holiday in the Caribbean. All you have to do is ......

No, No! No!!! We are not trying to sell anything and there is no free holiday!

There actually was a real Survey to find out how our club members felt about various issues.

The survey was conducted early in March 2004 and was reported in the Autumn 2004 Newsletter, which you can download as a PDF File if you wish.

It is now an opportune time to review the outcome of that survey and perhaps allow us to review the extent to which we have followed the views that were expressed at that time and whether they match our current aspirations.

The short extract below from that newsletter is to remind you of the outcome

The Chairman (Peter H) Reported (at that time)

“I am pleased to inform you of the results of the survey that we conducted earlier this year (2004), and the inferences that we have drawn from them. Most of the graphs skew to the right i.e. grow higher in importance and satisfaction. Where charts do this we have taken the stance that generally speaking things were OK. Where graphs do not do this i.e. the graphs peak in the middle, or are pretty level, we have drawn inference that things are not so OK.

I think it is fair to say that we are giving attention to all areas, and are constantly seeking improvement. However when we ask for feedback, we have to be open to the possibility that we can try even harder in some areas. Our focus is to balance the interests of all our members, and at the moment I think that we have got it about right in terms of membership resources, and activities.

The report below (in the newsletter) shows a summary written by me on each section of the survey and it is followed, where appropriate, by a report from the respective committee member.”

Current Situation

Following a visit to the club in April 2006 by Ash Taylor, the OLTA Club Development Officer, a subcommittee was set up to review the current situation within the club and to submit a Five Year Business Plan.

This activity is under progress with the intention of presenting the results to the next AGM for discussion and approval.

As part of this activity, the 2004 Survey was reviewed and the results are presented in this section of web pages:

It is not envisaged that another survey should be held in the near future. A survey once every five years should be sufficient to follow the trends within the club.
