Web Site
Web Site and Email capability.
2004 Situation
The importance levels for this aspect were very low, and the satisfaction middle to low. There is a chicken and egg situation here. Your feedback showed that many of you did not know about the site. We do not put as much information on it because people do not use it, or know about it. I think the web site has to be the way forward not only in promoting our club, but it will become the GTC notice board in your home. If you want to find out about court availability, matches, coaching opportunities, social events, club diary, discount shopping you could do all this from the comfort of your armchair.
Not in our survey - but linked to it is the use of Email. This potentially has massive savings for our club and is instant communication for forthcoming events and news. If you change your Email address please let us know.
Current Situation
If you are reading this then you are viewing the new Club Website.
Limited club details can still be found on the older TotalTennis Website: http://goring.totaltennis.net
This new dedicated website was first published in September 2005. It now has over 100 pages of information and is regularly updated with new information about ongoing club activities. Ash Taylor of the OLTA praised the website as being the best in Oxfordshire,
Dedicated tennis club Email addresses are available and are used on the website: (e.g. name.initial@goring-tennis,co,uk)
A scrutiny of the club membership (as of 2005) shows that some half of the members do not have (or do not avail themselves of) internet facilities. Of those who do have internet access, only half of those appear to regularly and actively access their Email. So currently only 25% of the club membership makes active use of Email facilities.
There is not yet a club culture where we can fully benefit from the potentially savings for our club in the use of internet technology. Nor can we currently rely on the internet as our primary means of communication with our members. However we have “laid the egg”, and wait for the “chicken to hatch”.
Since September 2005, over 1,600 visits have been made to the tennis club website, so somebody knows we are there.
